Extractions

A tooth extraction is a relatively quick outpatient dental procedure performed by a dentist or oral surgeon, in which unwanted teeth are removed.  A tooth may need to be extracted as a result of excessive decay, infection, and crowding.

An extraction may involve local, general, or intravenous anesthesia.  Extractions may be either simple or surgical depending on the situation. The removal of a visible tooth is a simple extraction, but teeth that are broken, below the surface, or impacted may require a more involved surgical procedure.
